Learn more about our clinical services

  • Rural Focus Impact Group (RFIG) is a specialised consultancy dedicated to bridging the gap in niche allied health services available to people with complex needs and challenging presentations who are living in regional, rural and remote areas across Australia.

RFIG acknowledges the unique challenges faced by regional, rural and remote communities, including limited access to services, long travel times, and fewer local resources equipped to work effectively with complex presentations.

As a mobile service operating across Australia, we are passionate about reaching geographically isolated people who face barriers to accessing the specialist support and clinical intervention they require.

We work exclusively with people living with complex and overlapping neurodevelopmental disability, severe mental illness, cognitive impairment and people with disability who are in contact with the criminal justice system.

We prioritise referrals for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and young people facing significant disadvantage and vulnerability, including those in out-of-home care, those involved with the child protection system, and those engaged with, or at risk of entry to the criminal justice system.

We operate with trauma-informed expertise, ensuring a collaborative, client-centred approach.

We are experienced in working across diverse community settings, secure residential facilities, and custodial environments, fostering strong partnerships with clients and their care teams to deliver tailored, safe and effective clinical support.

  • We have a strong focus on sensory modulation as a tool for enhancing emotion regulation ability.

Additionally, we are deeply committed to finding ways to utilise safe therapeutic activities to support the reduction of restrictive practices for clients exhibiting high-risk behaviours of concern.

We take a neuro affirming approach to social skill development and also enjoy working with clients in developing their skills in interpersonal effectiveness.

  • We are registered to provide positive behaviour support (PBS) intervention with the relevant regulatory body, and we seek regular multidisciplinary consultation to support the efficacy of our PBS work.

From within a PBS framework, we have a special interest in working with clients living with dual disability (co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorder and mental health diagnoses) and those in contact with the criminal justice system.

We combine individual skills building intervention with broader systems consultation - including the upskilling of disability support workers in effective coregulation techniques.

Our approach is collaborative, strengths based, and trauma informed.

Through our work, we seek to contribute to the meaningful reduction and sustainable elimination of restrictive/coercive practices across diverse care settings.

  • We are passionate about supporting the development of early career practitioners and invite supervision inquiries from mental health occupational therapists and those practicing positive behaviour support with clients living with dual disability.

  • RFIG are able to utilise funding from a variety of sources to support our service delivery. Some clients may be required to pay a small gap fee, dependent on their source of funding - this will be discussed on intake.

Prior to any commencement of service, all clients are provided with a detailed service agreement that includes a transparent fee structure and billing schedule.
